AT FLORENCE

DAY 139, FRI. OCT 28, 2011
COOL AND SHOWERS
AT FLORENCE.
Another rainy day, but we made the best of it.  We took the courtesy car at 9:00 am and went to see Helen Keller’s home.  If you haven’t seen the movie “The Miracle Worker” I highly recommend you see it.  Hers is a true story of how she overcame being blind and deaf and became an inspiration to the world.    After Helen Keller, we went to see a house that Frank Lloyd Wright designed.  It was not something I would want to live in, but it was far ahead of its time for 1940.  With only 40 mins left on the courtesy car we wanted to see the highlight attraction of the area, the “COON DOG CEMETERY.” Lest you think I’m kidding, check it out at  http://www.coondogcemetery.com/.  But alas, it was not to be as it was a 40 min ride.  Since it was lunch time, we stopped at a local BBQ place and had BBQ.  What BBQ is here is pork shoulder which has been slow smoked, pulled, and put on a bun with coleslaw.
