WE ARE GONE!

Sat, June 4 2011 Sunny-L66* H71*
Depart Home 06:30 Arrive Pt. Judith RI 2:30
It was worth the wait! What a beautiful day to start. The trip down Vinyard Sound was a little windy and the current turned against us so we switched to adaptive mgm't. and changed course for Quicks Hole as the current was considerably less in Buzzards Bay. All through Buzzards Bay and RI Sound we had calm seas and just a beautiful trip. We decided we couldn't make Watch Hill RI before the current there turned against us, so at 11:50 we decided to save fuel and slow down since there was no need to get to Pt. Judith early and sit on a hook. When we did arrive we took a ride up into the pond, turned around, and anchored in the Harbor of Refuge (HofR), our present location. When we arrived here, there were about 6 boats anchored, I just looked out and they are all gone. Maybe they know somethig I don't know. Just checked NOAA weather, the forcast said winds tonight 5 - 10 with gusts to 20. Seems like a steady 20 to me, but we seem to be holding bottom very well. Hope we can sleep tonight! We'll have a fair current going through Fischer's I. Sound tomorrow starting around 08:30, so we will see how far down L.I.Sound we can get.

  1. Hi Pat and Joe,
It looks like you had a very good start for the west/south-west first-leg. Looks like Pat is being treated first-class. Who is doing the cooking?
    Best regards,
    Dick

  2. Congrats on your departure. Our scheduled departure is June 27th. If I remember correctly you are heading up the Champlain Canal, we will be doing the Erie Canal. I'm sure, somewhere along this great journey, our paths will cross.

    Fair seas!
