ON THE ROAD AGAIN

DAY 138, THURS. OCT 27, 2011
DEP. ROGERSVILLE, AL 07:15  ARR. FLORENCE, AL 12:20
AM OVERCAST 60’s  PM BREEZY, COOL OVERCAST
D. 21 sm / 2503
Bill & Mary Russell from Harbor Reach (Wickford RI) arranged for an “orderly departure.”
run: yes;">  This consists of someone calling the lock to see if there are any tows waiting, and to check the visibility, which has become an issue with the much cooler AM temps.  We also set an order in which the boats will enter the lock.  This is the model we will use the rest of the way down the Tenn-Tom Water Way.  Today we are ten boats departing at the same time and heading in the same direction.  We entered the Wheeler lock at 08:00, and departed at 08:20.  When we got to the Wilson Lock, we had to wait about 40 mins. to enter.  After that it was an easy one mile cruise to Florence Harbor Marina.  We made reservations with Beth & Dean from Kismet, and Cindy & Ed from KayDeeAnna for dinner at Ricatoni’s Rest., but due to a mix up in signing up for the courtesy car we didn’t make it.  Someone didn’t see our reservation and took the car leaving us stranded on the dock.  We ate pizza at the marina rest. and it was pretty bad.
