It was blowing pretty hard when we left, but the wind was from the NE and at our backs as we left the Palafox marina and headed south across the bay to Santa Rosa Sound, so it wasn’t a bad ride. Once into Santa Rosa S. the rest of the trip was through some well protected waters. Although we were literally surrounded by sand bars and shoals we were OK as long as we stayed in the well marked channel. We saw more dolphins in our wake, and several fighter jets on maneuvers overhead. Both were very exciting to watch. After much discussion about where the free Ft. Walton Beach Marina was we put in a call and much to my surprise and delight were answered by Steve & Beth on GEMINI, old friends from way back in Georgian Bay. They guided us in and helped us tie up as did Ron & Jan from ADAGIO. We were later joined by INCONCIEVABLE, a family we met in Columbus MS. on the Tombigbee WW. We toured the town, stopped in at the Chamber of Commerce where we were warmly welcomed, and went to dinner at a terrible, and not so cheap Italian rest. Thank goodness the dock was free.
